EXCLUSIVE: One of Sydney's top tourist destinations, Taronga Zoo, has appointed Whybin TBWA Tequila as its creative agency, as the company continues its push into the digital space.

The zoo previously worked with Ogilvy, which did not repitch.

The zoo's general manager of marketing, guest and commercial operations, Paul Davies, confirmed the win to AdNews.

He said, “We are working towards our July school holiday campaigns with the agency, but you will see us launching a whole new integrated platform. Whybin really impressed us with its integrated and digital approach, which is a major focus for the zoo now.”

The account is a combination of both paid work and pro-bono.

Taronga Conservation Society’s main media spend in the 12 months to November 2011 was $1 million, down from $1.1 million in the previous corresponding period, according to Nielsen.
