Target's main creative account is in play, AdNews has learnt.
A review of the account has been rumoured for some time after the Wesfarmers-owned business split with the now defunct Campaign Palace three months after adding Big Red to its roster.
Shortly afterwards (in April 2012) Target confirmed it was conducting a closed agency review before things went quiet.
In July 2012 Target then hired former Radio Shack marketing boss Lee Applbaum to head up marketing. Applbaum left eight months later, in April 2013.
Six months later Target appointed Phil Wade as marketing director.
Now it appears the account is in play once again. Up to five Melbourne based agencies are believed to be facing off for the business, with at least two independent agencies thought to be part of the mix. Big Red, which has other Wesfarmers connections, currently handles much of its output.
UPDATE: Target confirmed it is mid-way through a pitch for its creative account, but would not reveal which agencies are involved.
