More than a year after the departure of Jeff Sanders, Rapp Sydney has finally hired a new managing director, Mark's Simone Blakers.

Blakers will oversee the operations of DDB Group's direct marketing agency Rapp, whose clients include Telstra, Red Cross Blood Service and Audi.

She replaces Sanders, who resigned in March last year. DDB Group chief operations officer Charles Rallings has served as interim head of Rapp in the past year.

Blakers leaves Mark, M&C Saatchi's direct division, after three and half years with the business, most recently as managing director. Previously, she's worked at George Patterson Y&R, Euro RSCG and Leo Burnett.

DDB Sydney group managing director Chris Brown said: “I'm delighted to have found someone of Simone's calibre coming on board to run Rapp. It's rare that you find someone with that great mix of leadership skills, relevant CRM and digital expertise, and importantly, the desire to drive brilliant outcomes for clients.

Blakers said: “Rapp is a great brand and the ambition to make it a powerhouse in this region was impossible to resist. There is a real opportunity for Australian brands to develop richer, more dynamic one to one relationships with their customers.”
