Power 50: The media industry's most influential players

By By Darren Davidson | 12 August 2011

It's that time of the year again when AdNews reveals the annual Power 50, our ranking of the industry's most influential players.

Today's print edition of AdNews features the complete list ranked 1 to 50, but to give you a teaser of what's in the magazine we've listed the entire 50 below in alphabetical order.

There are 27 new entrants, while 23 personalities remain on the list, a reflection of seismic changes in media ownership during the past 12 months.

Some of the entries have climbed the rankings this year, while others have fallen down the pecking order if they've been pushed down by fast risers or lost their sparkle.

The August 12 issue also features hot contenders for next year in 'On the rise', while those to lose their place in the rankings altogether appear in 'Gone!'.

Previous editions of the Power 50 ranked Harold Mitchell number one in 2010, Kerry Stokes topped the rankings in 2009, and John Hartigan wore the crown in 2008.
