The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) of Australia's chief executive Paul Fisher will step down from his role at the industry body to take on a position with Nielsen.

He will be starting at Nielsen as managing director of its media business across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

A replacement has not yet been found, but the the IAB said a search has already started.

IAB chairman Mark Britt said: “Paul has been a champion for the digital industry through a huge period of transformation.

“At the helm of IAB Australia he has consistently delivered on very ambitious plans and as a result IAB Australia now has a team of very senior and experienced executives in place who will oversee the continued growth and development of our industry.

“The key priorities for IAB Australia in 2013 have been identified and the IAB Australia team will now work collectively towards building on the IAB’s foundations by tackling some of the important issues of industry self-regulation and mobile advertising.

“It’s been a delight to work with Paul and on behalf of the board wish him well and every success for the future.”
