Match Media has hired former Ikon Sydney MD Pat Crowley as operations director.

Boss John Preston said the agency's growth (it is now billing over $160m) and full service diversification over the last few years necessitated another senior manager "who gets where mediais heading". He said Crowley "fits the bill perfectly. He has lived and breathed the growth of Ikon over the years and experienced a hell of a lot in that time."

Preston added that Crowley who spent time as the lead on Ikon's Commonwealth Bank account, was "an awesome bloke with excellent client management and people management skills".

"The operations director position is a new role at Match and Pat will have direct client line responsibilities together with a broad involvement in the agency’s operations to ensure that we are top of our game. Pat will join an already strong executive management team who have a firm focus on ensuring we remain competitive and are set up for the future.”

Crowley said it the decision to leave Ikon was not made lightly.

“It was a really hard decision to leave Ikon as it’s been such a significant part of my life for the past 12 years, however I felt a change in my career was needed. When I reviewed the market Match stood out as the place to be and culturally was a strong connection, and we began discussions a few weeks ago. I’m joining the agency when it’s at the  top of its game but also recognise its amazing potential . I can’t wait to be part of the next chapter in Match’s development.”
