The Myer media pitch is in play with Ikon preparing to battle to hang on to the business.
AdNews understands that the account, worth more than $50 million, will be contested by five agencies. Understood to be on the list alongside the incumbent are Starcom, PHD and two of the Group M units, probably MediaCom and Mindshare.
The retail giant awarded the contract to Ikon in 2009, with the now STW-owned firm opening a Melbourne office to service the account.
If Ikon retains the business it would represent a significant coup for incoming boss, James Greet, appointed in the wake of the management purge undertaken in March.
Losing the account could raise questions about the viability of the Melbourne unit in its current form.
