Maurice Levy shows funny side in video message

Publicis Groupe's Maurice Levy passes the time during a pause in his end of year message.

Publicis Groupe chief executive Maurice Levy's annual greetings have a rather whimsical, cheeky and tech-savvy edge to them this year.

Acting on advice that his previous videos have been a little on the long side, this year, Levy's message has surprises for everyone.

If like us, you have to pause your YouTube vids at the beginning for 10 minutes so your uber-slow connection can buffer, you may find yourself thoroughly confused as to why there's still activity happening on the screen. But rest assured, your antiquated computer hasn't lost its marbles permanently (that'll be next week), it's just part of the bag of fun Publicis has built into the message.

Anytime anyone tries to pause the video, Levy starts to kill the time by drinking tea, polishing a Gold Lion, recording an answering message and more. Watch the video change if you try to toggle the quality settings, the volume control or even if you skip forward.

The message and its technological functions were developed by Digitas France.
