Starcom MediaVest chief executive John Sintras has celebrated 30 years with Publicis Group, during which time he has become one of the most influential figures in Australian media.

Sintras began working on the creative side of the business, beginning his career in 1982 at Leo Burnett Sydney, where he went on to hold the position of media director, before becoming general manager.

In mid 1999, he launched Starcom in Australia, and in 2001 became chief operating officer. Sintras was appointed chief executive in June 2007. On the global stage, he is chair of Starcom's global product committee and a member of the global management group.

However, his influence extends beyond the walls of Publicis Groupe. Sintras was named the 26th most powerful man in the Australian marcomms industry in the 2011 AdNews Power 50 list.

He has held positions with the Media Federation of Australia, the Australian Association of National Advertisers, the Advertising Standards Bureau, the Audit Bureau of Circulations and OzTam.

Stacom chief operating officer Chris Nolan said: “John has made a meaningful and significant contribution to the lives of many young media executives, and the Australian community. Everyone at Starcom Australia thanks John for his incredible effort, energy and passion over 30 years.”
