Global affiliate marketing company LinkShare has officially launched in Australia with a host of international and local brands including Asos, Farfetch, Style Tread and Dyson.

LinkShare matches global online publishers and advertisers based on content, products and audiences and is modelled on a pay per conversion structure, as opposed to pay per click.

Owned by internet services company Rakuten, the company has launched with major international online companies including fashion websites Asos and Farfetch and hotel booking site Hotwire.

Australian brands that have partnered with LinkShare include online shoe retailer Style Tread, vacuum cleaner brand Dyson, technology and white goods website Appliances Online and variety retailer OO.com.au.

Local publishers range from bloggers, product review portrals and daily deals sites and include Virgin Australia Velocity, Asperity, Rewards Central, I Love Coupons and Sophie Hart.

AdNews revealed the forthcoming Australian launch of the affiliate marketing company in September.

Its foreign retail client includes landmark brands Harrods, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Dorothy Perkins, Macy’s and Accessorize.

LinkShare already operates in countries such as the US, the UK, Canada and Japan. It entered the local market to serve Australian online retailers as well as global brands looking to advertise to international audiences.

Rakuten LinkShare chief executive officer Yaz Iida said: “Launching our services in Australia is a key part of our global strategy as we work to meet the global online marketing needs of our advertisers and publishers.

“A combination of local and global resources, expert service, proven technology, and a vast network of quality publishers will enable online retailers to grow their businesses among consumers throughout Australia.”

Asos Australia senior marketing manager Prue Thomas said: "Performance marketing presents a low-risk, measurable way to enter the Australian market and it delivers great opportunities to reach the Australian consumer while achieving a target return on ad spend.

“By working with Rakuten LinkShare in Australia, we have a true global partner who can help us build relationships with the best local publishers and help fine-tune our online campaigns to drive traffic and conversion among Australian shoppers.”

Appliances Online general manager Peter Harris said: “Having an established global leader like Rakuten LinkShare operating locally will raise the standard of affiliate marketing for publishers across the board.

"Innovation by affiliate marketers will provide Australian consumers with a greater opportunity to compare and research products and services."
