Yahoo7 has struck a deal with mobile advertising specialists InMobi to sell its mobile inventory across a selection of Yahoo7's mobile sites.
The deal gives InMobi access to a select pool of Yahoo7's mobile inventory, and will sell them through its own category offerings such as sports, lifestyle and other sectors.
InMobi will have access to all of Yahoo7's mobile smartphone inventory on the web that has not already been sold by Yahoo7's own sales team.
The company said in a statement that Yahoo7’s sales team would continue to be the only place to buy sponsorship opportunities, integrated opportunities, in-app inventory and all tablet inventory.
The deal creates a secondary market for unsold Yahoo7 smartphone advertising inventory and will include smartphone properties from the Seven Network and Pacific Magazines.
InMobi already has a number of publishing partnerships in Australia including NineMSN, Shazam, Mamamia and ESPN.
The mobile specialist won the business after a competitive pitch and will be charged with driving revenue for the popular Australian portal.
Yahoo7's commercial director Paul Sigaloff said the pace of growth in the mobile sector meant it was crucial for the company to have a strong sales partner in mobile.
“InMobi continues to show strong growth in mobile advertising making it a great partner for Yahoo7 to ensure we are monetising all of our growing mobile audience,” Sigaloff said.
