EXCLUSIVE: Ikon Communications has established a dedicated Data and Analytics department and appointed Experian Hitwise's Tim Lovitt to head it up.
Because of an increasing demand for data insights coupled with technological advances, data and analytics will play an growing role in how media agencies handle their clients' media budgets and plans.
Ikon's data department currently consists of five staff but the STW-owned agency has already identified it will be one of its biggest growth areas this year.
Lovitt has joined Ikon from Experian Hitwise where he was a marketing and research analyst. He has also previously worked for Maxus Melbourne as head of digtial.
Ikon national digital director Ellie Rogers said: “We have set up a new data and analytics department to help us solve and master the question of big data, and the even bigger opportunities it presents for our clients. Our pure data department currently consists of five analysts but will be the biggest area of growth across our business this year.”
Lovitt said: “It is exciting to join an agency already doing so much with data across the business. I'm really looking forward to harnessing the skills and experience we have a range of segmentation and econometric projects.”
