An ad for Nissan created with the contestants of the Channel Seven show House Rules driving with an unrestrained dog in a car has had complaints to the ASB (Ad Standards Board) dismissed.
The ad depicts a group of House Rules contestants entering a vehicle on a construction site and slowly driving away.
After hearing the barking of a dog they stop the vehicle and let the dog in. The dog then sits in the middle seat of the second row between two of the contestants before the vehicle then sets off again.
“The vehicle drives off with the dog clearly not restrained as required by law and recommended by the RSPCA," one complaint said.
The ASB dismissed the claims noting that: “There is a strong recommendation to have dogs restrained in order to avoid unnecessary harm, however it is not a specific requirement by law”.
