The newly formed Southern Cross Austereo has appointed former Austereo executive chairman Peter Harvie as non-executive director.
Harvie was executive chairman of Austereo from 1997 until this year, when Southern Cross Media purchased Austereo for $741 million.
At this point, Harvie stepped down from his role, but continued working with the merged entity in order to help with the integration process.
Harvie's appointment is effective immediately. He will have the opportunity to take on an executive director's role following Southern Cross Austereo's annual general meeting in October.
Last month the company revealed that it was ditching the separate Southern Cross Media and Austereo names, and was re-entering the market as Southern Cross Austereo.
The company has been gradually undergoing an integration process. It has announced a new sales structure, with SCM's sales boss Jeremy Simpson taking on the lead role.
In June, AdNews revealed exclusively that Austereo's marketing boss Nikki Clarkson would be head of marketing and communications at the newly merged company.
At the beginning of May, it was revealed that Austereo chief executive Guy Dobson would be SCM director of metro radio, answering directly to SCM chief executive Rhys Holleran.
Meanwhile, Southern Cross Austereo chairman Max Moore-Wilton has said the company is currently searching for another non-executive director to sit on the board.
