EXCLUSIVE: Diageo has made two key changes to its marketing department following the resignation of marketing and innovation director John Green.

Green will be jointly replaced by Matt Bruhn who was elevated to the role of director for brands, and Johnathan Curnow to innovative director, after more than a decade with Diageo.

The company has confirmed there will be a number of redundancies in its marketing department under a radical operational review. It is unclear exactly how many jobs will be lost at this stage.

Diageo chief executive officer, Paul Walsh, confirmed the company was in the process of downsizing and that “the regional variation in the pace of economic growth has created significant change and new opportunities”.

“In order to capture these opportunities, We have begun a review of our operating model across the business to ensure that all our resources are deployed closer to the market and in those areas where the potential for growth is greatest,” he said.
