EXCLUSIVE: Diageo has appointed Pacific Brands group marketing manager for sport and footwear Adam Ballesty as marketing manager for vodka.

Ballesty spent two years with Pacific Brands, spending his first year as marketing manager, sport, overseeing brands including Dunlop Sport, Everlast and Slazenger.

Prior to his work with Pacific Brands, Ballesty worked as marketing manger at Skins Compression Garments and marketing director at Unistraw International.

Recruitment firm Hourigan International was engaged by Diageo to assist with the search for the best candidate for the role.

“[Ballesty is] a unique individual in the Marketing landscape because of his mix of disciplined FMCG experience, his genuinely entrepreneurial and inquisitive nature, and his solid understanding of retail and digital,” Damian Tynan, partner at Hourigan International, said. “On top of that, he’s a great bloke.

“Some marketers have all the right answers in an interview, but Adam also has proven successes building brands from scratch and revitalising tired brands. Adam is [innovative]. If Diageo wanted a guy to come in and leave things the way they are, Adam is not the guy.

"He’ll be respectful of the past, but will challenge the status quo to deliver better outcomes for the business. His agency partners and his own teams will be swept up with his infectious energy and his absolute willingness to dive into the trenches with them and deliver outstanding results.”

Ballesty's appointment is effective immediately.
