DDB Sydney has taken home three Sirens awards for a radio ad for Volkswagen's fatigue-detection technology.
The ad, 'Road', was written by Jim Curtis and Ryan Fitzgerald – who moved on from DDB Sydney together to BMF in January.
It picked up the gold Siren award for best radio ad of the year, as well as two silver Sirens in the single and the craft categories, at the awards that were announced in Melbourne this morning.
Meanwhile, McCann's work for Metro Trains, by John Mescall and Pat Baron, picked up the silver Siren for best radio campaign for 'Metro Notify', promoting the Notify app that tells commuters if their train is running late.
And the Sirens' client award went to Rohan Lancaster and Darren Pitt, from Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, for the 'Shoppers Please' campaign for M&Ms.
Joan Warner, chief executive of Commercial Radio Australia, said: “This is the 10th year of the Siren Awards and it has been another outstanding year of entries. The winning Volkswagen ad is a very effective use of audio for radio and highlights a vehicle feature that could save lives.”
