Carat poaches MediaCom's trading boss

Carat has poached MediaCom's head of trading Paul Brooks leaving the WPP-owned agency seeking a new chief investment officer.

Whereas agencies usually swiftly show defectors the door, it may be that MediaCom will try to hold Brooks to his notice period given the importance of the trading component within the firm's business.

Brooks has been MediaCom's chief investment officer for the past two years. Respected as a savvy operator, he rose through the ranks at Mindshare in London before switching to MediaCom.

MediaCom boss Mark Pejic said the raid was "testament to the talent the agency produces", as both Carat boss Simon Ryan and Brooks had spent "significant years with the company".

Ryan said he was "proud to have Paul join Carat Australia's team. He will be a great asset to the company along with the current client group. We're a culturally-driven organisation which means talent such as Paul will fit well with our team."
