Ninemsn is a week away from announcing its new chief executive, with reports tipping former CFO Mark Britt to take the top job, following Joe Pollard's resignation.

An industry source has said the digital joint venture between Nine Entertainment Co. and Microsoft is likely to make an official announcement in a week.

The Australian reported this morning former chief financial officer Mark Britt is likely to be named chief executive. Britt worked for Ninemsn between 2004 and 2006, before moving onto other positions with Microsoft. He is currently Microsoft general manager, consumer & online, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Ninemsn chief executive Joe Pollard resigned in May after three years in the role. Pollard said at the time she was looking to spend more time with her family. Prior to Ninemsn, Pollard was director of sales and marketing at PBL Media and marketing director at Nike Japan.

Pollard will depart the company in September. Ninemsn has declined to comment on the reports.
