Discount retailer Big W has parted ways with its ad agency of more than 20 years, Y&R's IdeaWorks, following a pitch for the creative account.
The Woolworths-owned retailer put its account out to pitch in November, with IdeaWorks taking part in the process. A spokesperson for Woolworths would not reveal which agency had won the pitch and said details would be revealed in the coming days.
Y&R Group Sydney managing director Naseema Sparks told AdNews no staff would be departing as a result of the account loss.
Sparks said in a statement: “IdeaWorks has had a productive association with Big W for more than 20 years and has produced many ground-breaking campaigns. We are particularly proud of working Big W to take them to the position of Australia's number one discount department store.
The sector has seen changes in the past year with rival Kmart switching creative agencies from SapientNitro to BWM. Target has also brought on fresh blood for its creative services, enlisting Big Red to work alongside The Campaign Palace.
