Bauer to close Grazia

Reports have surfaced that Grazia magazine is to close. The publisher has refused to discuss the speculation.

Weekly fashion title Grazia is to be axed by Bauer Media, AdNews understands.

The firm refused to comment on a report in the Australian Financial Review today (AFR) which claimed the firm was to close the "struggling" title. A spokesperson said this morning: "We don't comment on gossip." However, an official announcement is widely anticipated.

The development comes ahead the latest industry circulation and readership figures, published tomorrow. They will reveal the magazine's most recent performance. The women's fashion and celebrity magazine has suffered significant circulation declines in recent years. The three months to September 2012 put it at 43,872 - a 20.61% year-on-year decline - according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC).

Grazia currently has a Twitter following over over 21,000 fans. It also won 'Cover of the Year' at last year's Maggies Awards for its Australia Day-themed cover featuring supermodel Miranda Kerr.

Bauer will launch Elle magazine in August.
