Alan Jones hit with fact-checking ruling

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ruled under-seige 2GB radio presenter Alan Jones will have to undergo media training while his comments will have to be fact-checked before going to air.

The rulings come after ACMA ruled Jones had conducted breaches of the Commercial Radio Codes of Practice in March of this year by making inaccurate comments about climate change.

The additional measures were suggested by 2GB, and have been accepted by ACMA.

As a result of the breaches, the executive producer of Alan Jones' show must now fact-check material set to go to air, while Jones himself will have to attend media training focussing on ACMA's findings.

Jones has recently been in a lot of hot water over comments he made about Prime Minster Julia Gillard's father.

As a result, scores of advertisers have deserted his program.
