Southern Cross launches Mytalk

SYDNEY: Southern Cross has launched www.mytalk.com.au, a website housing news and local information generated from the broadcasting group’s radio and TV services.

The website will aim to provide up-to-date news to 36 city and regional centres across Australia.

The content will also be available on digital TV, through 30 datacasting channels accessible through regional Australia and metropolitan Adelaide.

Users of the website will be encouraged to comment on local and national issues through blogs and forums.

Live radio from the Southern Cross network will be broadcast online, including 2UE in Sydney, 3AW and Magic 693 in Melbourne, 4BC and 4BH in Brisbane and 6PR and 96FM in Perth.

Tony Bell, managing director of Southern Cross Broadcasting, said in a statement, the Mytalk television datacasting channels and internet sites expand the group’s broadcasting services beyond traditional transmission methods.

“We expect advertisers to take up the opportunity of advertising across all of our platforms and build deeper relationships with their customers through Southern Cross Broadcasting,” Bell said.

The service follows Macquarie Regional Radioworks’ November 2006 launch of an online portal, housing its 86 radio stations, following a series of unsuccessful individual station websites that failed to build enough clout to attract national advertisers.
