Val Morgan Digital (VMD) is expanding its team, with a focus on building out its branded content offering.

The digital arm of Val Morgan, which launched in August 2019, is adding four strategic hires to its team, including Alyce Thomas and Claudia Pearce as agency partnership managers, and Nicola Laing as strategy and content manager.

Meanwhile, Jack Revell joins as branded content and weekend editor of VMD’s platform TheLatch.

The business says the growth is a “demonstration of advertisers’ increased demand” for its digital offering, as well as demand from TheLatch’s audience for more entertainment, wellness, and lifestyle content.

“With consistent month-on-month growth, we’re carving out a solid space in market, with thought-provoking content that helps our audience dig deeper on issues like sustainability and mental health,” says Amanda Bardas, VMD executive editor.

“We’ve learnt a lot from our readers over the past six months, with those learnings driving some exciting brand developments at the end of this year. Watch this space.”

VMD says that since launching in February, TheLatch has seen a minimum +20% month-on-month growth, reaching 400,000 monthly users after six months live.

Jack Revell previously worked as a freelance writer, covering arts, culture, and politics for SBS Voices, Vice, Rolling Stone, Pedestrian.TV and Crikey.

Alyce Thomas most recently worked at Are Media, formerly Bauer Media, in sales, and has also worked as a digital account manager at The Urban List. Joining VMD from Time Out, Claudia Pearce has worked across a variety of publications and brands, while Nicola Laing joins VMD following a strategy and response manager role at Nine’s Pedestrian Group.

Since launching, VMD has added Amanda Bardas as executive editor of TheLatch, and Adam Fischer as national sales director.

“I am extremely proud of the tenacity shown by the digital sales and editorial team this year. Under Adam and Amanda’s leadership, they have navigated unprecedented challenges, and have evolved our digital arm from ‘new kid on the block’ to a sophisticated and legitimate digital offering,” says Brian Florido, VMD managing director.

“In turn, we continue to attract phenomenal talent to our expanding business. Alyce, Claudia, Nicola and Jack each bring their own set of skills to their roles which will be valuable assets in helping us continue to grow VMD.”
