Movers & Shakers: Amplify, BMF, Dentsu, Nature, We Are Social

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Dentsu nabs Leo Burnett's Graham Alvarez-Jarratt
Graham Alvarez-Jarratt, former head of strategy at Leo Burnett, has joined dentsu Creative ANZ as strategy partner. He will be the strategic leader across a large portfolio of brands working to connect creative, media and CX together.

Nature appoints The Media Store's Aliya Hasan strategy director
Strategic insights consultancy Nature has appointed Aliya Hasan to the newly created strategy director role, based in Melbourne. Hasan brings with her 20 years of strategic planning experience, most recently at The Media Store.

We Are Social's Sarah Macrae now head of social at Medium Rare
Medium Rare Content Agency has appointed Sarah Macrae head of social.
Macrae joins from We Are Social where she was editorial director responsible for overseeing social strategy and editorial output for clients such as Audi, Foxtel, TikTok and Samsung.

Amplify announces two senior appointments
Amplify has appointed Jackson Holst creative director and Ian Davidson business director.
Holst and Davidson have close to 30 years’ experience between them having worked at agencies and brands including Weber Shandwick, Jack Morton, INNOCEAN, Havas Sports & Entertainment, and Red Bull.

BMF in hiring spree
BMF has made four appointments, bolstering its content and social capabilities. Hannah McHard joins BMF as head of effectiveness, following a four-year stint as insights and strategy manager at Australian supermarket ALDI. Phoebe Carden has been appointed content and social strategist after working as a content social strategist and writer for recognised brandings including Disney, the ABC, Optus, Universal Sony, and NSW Health.

BMF has appointed Joe Mallet as a senior creative, who prior spent six years at Lucky Generals London and has worked on world-class clients including, PlayStation, Hostelworld, the co-op supermarket, and most recently Amazon’s Super Bowl commercial featuring Scarlett Johansson.

Alister McCann also joins as a senior creative and has worked at agencies including AnalogFolk, CX Lavender, The Works, M&C Saatchi, and The Green House on brands including Westfield Australia, Westpac, CommBank, McDonalds, Optus, Woolworths, Curtin University, Coke Zero and Coors Beer.

Howatson+Company secures new creative director team
Doug Hamilton and Michael Kleinman are joining advertising agency Howatson+Company as creative directors. Hamilton joins from BMF and TBWA where he was a creative director. Before that he spent five years in New York at Droga5 and Anomaly. 

Concrete Playground appoints Alex Light managing director
Australia and New Zealand’s digital city guide Concrete Playground has appointed Alex Light managing director. Light has been working with Concrete Playground for the past two years as a consultant, advising the business on commercial and strategic projects.

Host/Havas elevates Alyce Gillis to head of strategy
Host/Havas has promoted Alyce Gillis to head of strategy, where she will lead the large and growing department of strategists across creative, brand, social, CX, and data. Gillis has been with Host/Havas for four years and prior to that she led strategy at One Green Bean (part of Havas Creative Group). As part of her promotion, she now joins the Host/Havas leadership team.

Wunderman Thompson unveils eight hires and promotions
Wunderman Thompson has announced a batch of new hires and promotions in both Melbourne and Sydney. Stephanie Gwee has joined the Melbourne office as associate creative director from global advertising company Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) in Singapore.

The Melbourne office also welcomes Adriana Agustin-Radelja and Sarah Fumo as juniors, as well as Grace Hurley, whose experience includes a graphic designer stint with Puma in New York, as junior art director. Rhys Delios Callanan also transitions from editor / creator into the creative team.

In Sydney, Dean Shein has also joined as copywriter, having recently achieved second place at the New South Wales AWARD School. He’ll be teaming-up with Julian Batty, who transitions from design into an art-director role.

Indago Digital elevates Darren Friel to head of SEO
Indago Digital has promoted SEO director, Darren Friel, to head of SEO.
Friel will lead the team on accounts such as AAT Kings, Ondeck, Travelex and Boost Mobile. He has over 10 years’ experience as an SEO specialist, and under Friel's leadership, the team will continue to deliver best-in-class SEO strategies that fuel growth for Indago's clients.

Frontier Australia appoints Vanessa Starr head of client service
Media and marketing agency Frontier Australia has appointed Vanessa Starr head of client service.
The new role, which comes on the back of a bumper year for the agency with significant client growth, has been created to further strengthen Frontier’s overall client offering.
