Former 2GB host Chris Smith will join Sky News Australia in 2020, following his controversial exit from his radio gig earlier this year.

Smith’s departure from the Macquarie Media station, now owned by Nine, was met with protest from loyal supporters of the conversative host.

He now joins the News Corp-owned station to host regular programs Chris Smith Tonight on Thursdays at 8pm and Chris Smith & Friends on Sundays at 10pm, joining what’s referred to as the “Sky after dark” line-up known for its right-wing content.

In another addition for the network next year, Peter Stefanovic will host a two-part documentary, following the success of Sky News Australia’s first locally produced documentaries Bad Blood/New Blood and Lawyer X: The Untold Story.

“In 2020 we continue our significant investment across live breaking news, expert commentary and national affairs, as well as long-form investigative content, to provide viewers with an unmatched line-up of must-watch news and national affairs programs,” Sky News chief executive Paul Whittaker says.
