The Voice host Darren McMullen is the face of a new campaign for Positively Wellington Tourism, as he proudly announces “Wellington has things”.
The Scottish-born Australian stars in a short film that hopes to dispel misconceptions Aussies have about the New Zealand city.
McMullen said: “I'll admit it, Wellington wasn't on the top of my holiday list. But that's all changed now – once here I fell in love with the city. It's a thriving metropolis bursting with things.”
He picks on the coffee, the fact that there are more bars and restaurants per capita than New York, and the 225-hectare sanctuary on the edge of the city to show off some of its highlights.
David Perks, chief executive of Positively Wellington Tourism, said: “Wellington prides itself on doing things a little differently and we wanted to buck the trend of traditional tourism films by adding a touch of fun. Darren's sense of humour was a perfect fit – he really got what Wellington is about.”
As well as the film, there is a new website to showcase Wellington.
