Tesco pranks good-humoured customers in its Halloween "Spookermarket"

While for the weekly shop might be one of the more mundane routines for some, Tesco is livening things up in a Halloween campaign in which it secretly films customers getting pranked by staff in their “Spookermarket”.

Set inside a Tesco supermarket, the ads show customers' creeped-out reactions to mysteriously moving trolleys, seemingly disembodied heads hidden behind stacks of toilet roll, and severed hands chilling in the freezer section

Apron-wearing butchers done up as the Joker from Batman leap up from behind counters to scare the living daylights out of customers and pumpkin-headed spooks go for the kiddies who get too close to the display.

Luckily everyone seems to take the pranks rather well, though some do seem genuinely shocked.

The ad campaign, which debuted on October 18, is followed up on Youtube with instructional videos on how to make your own terrifying treats for Halloween using tesco products, including jack-o-lanterns and a “horrible head in a jar”.

The ad itself has already clocked up over 1.55 million views online.
