The six-part series will focus on Australian university students trying to do the impossible, colonise Mars.
HP Australia and Discovery have revealed its new partnership campaign, a six-part original content series, Mars Home Planet.
The campaign follows teams of students from Western Australia’s Curtain University and RMIT University in Melbourne as they participate in the global HP Mars Home Planet competition.
The six-part series will follow the teams over a six-month period as the look for practical solutions to build and sustain urbanisation on Mars.
Through an immersive VR creation, powered by HP Z Workstation technology, students will be able to create and map out a civilisation on the red planet.
“Discovery has long been a trailblazer for entertaining and inspiring audiences globally with stories about the diverse world we live in, including humankind’s never-ending fascination with space; so the Mars Home Planet series is a perfect addition to our offering," Discovery director, advertising and brand partnerships Joe Revill says.
“We’re proud to be partnering with HP on this project and supporting the next generation of Australian innovators on their journey in this ground-breaking initiative.”
“In 2016 we reached new heights with 120 of our HP Z Workstations being sent to the International Space Station. Now we have our sights set on Mars,” HP South Pacific head of marketing Dan Henry says.
“We believe technology can do more than just empower – it can and should also inspire. This global challenge among leaders of future generations is unlocking a new level of creativity with the aim of combining talent in different disciplines to make life on Mars that much closer to reality, all brought to life through HP VR technology,”
The Mars Home Planet series will be rolled out online and on Discovery until September.
