Peters Ice Cream teams up with Aussie legends in Drumstick promo.

Legendary Aussie entertainers Dame Edna Everidge and Jimmy Barnes talk possible duets, their careers, and the calming effect of Drumstick cones in a new series of content pieces for Peters Ice Cream launched online.

“Jimmy, you look as though you're really enjoying that!” says Everidge, as the two sit across from each other in a riotously brightly decorated studio.

“I am! It's almost as much of a little legend as you are,” responds Jimmy, before the two get into a back and forth about who is more of a legend - all while each gripping a Peters Ice Cream Drumstick.

In another spot uploaded to YouTube late last week, Everidge gives the secret to her success – calming her pre-stage nerves by eating a Drumstick.

In a final piece, Everidge and Barnes talk over their respective careers, with Dame Edna telling Barnes, “What a career you've had, Barnesy...”, to which Barnesy responds: “I've been lucky. We've had good careers.”

Dame Edna then fires back, “Well I certainly have...”. The chuckling pair then toast with their Drumsticks to the idea of a duet.

Music Mill, a Sydney music supervision company, was instrumental in securing the tie-up with Jimmy Barnes for Peters Ice Cream as the face of its “One Tough Cookie Dough” Drumstick. Dame Edna remains the ambassador for its “Glamington” product line.

Bruce Tweedie, MD of Music Mill, said that this type of work fits perfectly with the strategic direction of the business, which has been expanding from TVCs into related offerings such as celebrity talent, branded content and social media campaigns.

“We’ve been finding songs and negotiating music licences for TVCs for fifteen years, but in recent times we have expanded into talent acquisition – including Colin Hay for Telstra and Salt N Pepa for Kia Sportage. Like our agency clients, we are really riding the wave of diversification... At the end of the day all these things play into our core specialties of negotiation expertise and creative music suggestions, both songs and artists."

Anna Jones, senior bBrand manager at Peters Ice Cream said “It was great working with Music Mill on such an exciting project. Donna (Fitzhenry, music creative and licensing manager at Music Mill) helped us navigate a complex negotiation process, which made everyone’s lives much easier. She has a great eye for detail and maintained a strong focus on securing the best outcome for all parties throughout.”
