The video series sees Karina Utomo travel across India to hunt down the world's hottest chillies, but has the Vice host bitten off more than she can chew?
Imagine travelling to the sub-continent to have your taste buds literally blown away by one of the world’s hottest chillies.
Well that’s exactly what Vice host Karina Utomo does in a new video content series, Hot Heads, for AirAsia – and it’s pretty funny.
The four-part travel series pits Utomo travelling across AirAsia’s Indian network, places like Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur to try different spicy cuisines and take in some of India’s spectacular culture and scenery.
The first spot takes her to Chennai to try the legendary Chicken 65. India’s version of buffalo wings was named after the year it was created in this bustling corner of India.
While Chicken 65 was the appetiser, the main course was Utomo’s attempt to eat 10 Ghost Pepper momos in Bangalore and her reaction is priceless.

AirAsia Group head of branding Rudy Khaw explained that Vice was the perfect partner to showcase India as an “exciting destination for millennials”.
“Using food as the driver, the unique series challenges the host Karina to step outside her comfort zone and explore the diverse sights and sounds of India,” Khaw said.
Vice Australia business development director of brand partnerships Cain Collins added: “Hot Heads is a travel series informed by quantifiable insights drawn from VICE owned data around what's currently driving young people's destination consideration set: culinary adventurism and local experiences, combined with a little bit of Schadenfreude.”
AdNews knows what it’s like to eat ridiculously hot chillies (including ghost peppers) and felt a seed of sympathy for Utomo’s valiant chilli eating efforts.
