CHE Proximity has recruited BBDO Chicago's Leon Wilson as executive creative director.

Wilson returns from the US where he worked at BBDO Chicago and Fallon Minneapolis. He had previously been with Publicis Mojo Melbourne, before following then-Fallon chief creative officer Darren Spiller to the States. He's also been with Colenso BBDO and Mother.

Wilson's role is newly created.

The agency has been undergoing a 'reinvention' since Chris Howatson was installed as boss of the merged entity of CHE and Clemenger Proximity just over a year ago. It has appointed 64 staff in that time.

“Appointing Leon is the next step in our agency's ambitious five-year plan – he is a phenomenal talent, leader and an inspiring person. He's an evangelist for the modern role of creativity in solving business problems,” said Howatson.

“Our ambition is to pioneer the next generation of commercial creativity. There's untapped opportunity at the intersection of data, technology, customer experience and content, that when unlocked allows us to create branded relationships with customers that solve genuine needs, rather than rely on broad persuasion alone.”

Wilson said: “It's great to be back in a market where people call a spade a spade, and more specifically an agency where this candidness cuts through the clutter and delivers honest conversations and insights.”

CHE Proximity clients include Foxtel, Mazda and Village Roadshow.
