MELBOURNE: Young & Rubicam Brands is set to launch the full service digital agency VML into the Australasian market, with Auckland tipped to be the first city to open an office.
The launch of the agency was confirmed by Y&R global chief executive, Hamish McLennan, on a visit to Australia last week where he met up with new Y&R Australia chief executive, Russel Howcroft.
A Y&R Brands spokesperson confirmed Auckland was the first stop in the planned rollout of more offices in the region but could not confirm the exact date of the launch and said there was no official timetable.
VML@Y&R has so far launched 11 offices worldwide since it partnered with Y&R Brands in 2009, with 19 offices expected to be in operation by the end of Q1 2011.
VML joined the WPP Group in 2001 and has operated independently as a Young & Rubicam agency since 2006. In 2009, the agency became Y&R's global digital partner.
