The Australasian Music Industry Directory (AMID), which was launched by 40-year publishing veteran Phil Tripp in 1988, has been sold to Street Press Australia.

The sale covers a range of assets including the print edition, apps and four websites, and comes as Tripp retires from publishing.

He said: "Of five media companies who made offers to buy Australia’s only music business sourcebook we started in 1987, it was our long relationship with Craig and Leigh Treweek who we watched build the national network of music press that clinched the deal.

"We’ve talked about it for more than five years but when it came down to continuing the integrity and reputation of AMID’s 22 year leadership in the music business and our four major websites developed over 15 years, we couldn’t be happier with the acquisition."

Street Press Australia is planning to expand the print and online versions, and launch new Apple and Android apps.

Street Press Australia Director Craig Treweek said: "SPA has a long history of acquiring only top established brands with extended leading traditions and AMID fits perfectly into this ethos.

"SPA looks forward to continuing this history and expanding into new content and extended digital offerings to ensure AMID retains its place as Australia’s only relevant industry guide."
