DDB Sydney has chalked up the most nominations in the first round of the Account Planning Group's Creative Strategy Awards.
27 case studies have been shortlisted from a record number of 85 entries submitted, with DDB Sydney racking up five mentions, followed by JWT with four and Host with three.
The shortlisted entries will go to a second round, led by chairman of judges Jon Steele, battling for the Grand Prix and category awards. The categories are Established Product Brands, Established Service Brands, New Brand or Advertiser, and Public Service or Charity.
Special awards will given away on the night, 25 November, for best insight, best approach to research, best use of data, best non-advertising idea and best under 50k budget.
Communications Council chief executive Daniel Leesong said: "Besides the obvious chance of getting awarded for outstanding planning, entering these awards assists in educating our wider industry on the contribution strategic planning makes to great communications."
Steele said: "Great strategic thinking is always important, but never more so than in difficult economic times. That's why we've had a record number of entries, many of which are of the highest quality."
