A pair of anonymous creatives in the US have launched a spoof awards dubbed The Handy Awards in mockery of the industry's penchant for awards programmes, and the sad truth that in some people's eyes, the industry is full of wankers.
The gong, which looks a lot like a dong, is paired with an app that activates when it's given a shake.
So go on, shake one off. All in the name of winning award.
The site of the faux award show says "It's the world’s first advertising award show where you can give yourself an award in the comfort of your studio apartment or at your desk within your agency’s open office. All without entering any work or having to sit through someone else’s boring case study video."
"Advertising is full of award shows that only people in advertising care about, with juries comprised of industry professionals who have entered and are judging their own work. Some might call this self-serving. We could think of a few other terms to describe it."
