AdNews, with the help of creative agency Showpony, has entered the metaverse and created its own NFT as part of its latest magazine issue.

The upcoming March/April magazine dives into the rise of the metaverse, looking at how the new virtual world has grown.

We speak to industry experts, including OMD national head of digital Alison Costello and Digitas executive creative director Simon Brock, to find out how brands are, and can, tap into the metaverse to reach consumers in new ways.

After designing the cover, Showpony then transformed it into a billboard which is being displayed in Cryptovoxels, a metaverse where players can buy land and build stores and art galleries.

Viewers in the metaverse can scan a QR code on the billboard, which is running for one week, to secure a limited run of AdNews NFTs, which can also be found here.

“It was an incredibly unique opportunity to apply our creative process and delve into a new world that’s fast becoming a reality for our industry,” says Showpony creative director Nic Maumill.

“Along the way we thought – what better way to explore advertising in the metaverse than to advertise in the metaverse? So we’re running our cover as a full scale virtual billboard in the metaverse and minting it as a limited number of NFTs. Bored Apes – we’re coming for a slice of that cash.

“Plus, as a result of this project, we’re all off to buy some prime metaverse real estate. Stop by for a virtual vermouth some time.”
