Electronics brand Sanyo has ended its sponsorship of the Penrith Panthers Rugby League Football Club after 12 years.
The NRL club told AdNews that it has a replacement sponsor but declined to reveal the identity of the brand. Sanyo had resigned as the club's sponsor last year with an option for a further two years.
Sanyo Asia Group Limited president, Bill Crichton, confirmed the move in a YouTube video to fans and supporters.
Crichton said: "For the past 12 years, we've been the major sponsor of the Penrith Panthers Rugby League Football Club. Regretfully, due to a takeover of our organisations recently that sponsorship will now draw to a close.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the Panthers' fans that have helped make our brand what it is today. I look forward to staying on as an avid fan of the Panthers, watching them take their first steps towards their goal of being the greatest sporting organisation in Australia."
The Japanese brand was recently taken over by Panasonic.
