Interaction Consortium wins MCA
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney has appointed web developer Interaction Consortium, graphic design studio Toben and social media firm Zumio to its digital account following a tender. The three businesses replace incumbent Deepend. The MCA's new website will be unveiled in March 2012.
Australia Network handed to the ABC
The tender process for the $223 million overseas Australia Network has been cancelled, with control and funding being handed to the ABC. The tender was revealed 12 months ago by foreign minister Kevin Rudd. Commercial broadcaster Sky News was also competing for the tender and is reported to be unhappy with the government's decision to abandon the contract process.
SBS launches online forum CQ
SBS has launched SBS CQ: Cultural Intelligence, an online resource that will be followed by a televised forum broadcast on December 22 that will debate diversity in Australia. The website will be home to exclusive web-only content and will become a permanent hub for views, news and research about diversity.
oOh! Media wins five media sales awards
oOh!media has taken out five awards at the inaugural media sales representation awards, winning among others the National Sales Team of the Year. The awards were determined by votes from more than 850 media agency professionals and were judged across TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, digital and out of home.
Microsoft reveals voice control
In celebrating voice control coming to Kinect for Xbox 360, Microsoft has revealed that Dame Edna Everage has been voted Australia's most recognisable voice by a survey of 1,011 people. Microsoft has launched voice on Kinect for Xbox 360, a technology that allows people to control their home entertainment with the sound of their voice and gestures alone.
Rugby League Week pays tribute to Arthur Beeston
The team at ACP's Rugby League Week magazine have put together a special tribute edition in recognition of the late Arthur Beeston who passed away last Thursday. The 100-page Arthur Beeston: The Great Man Remembered features photos and stories of one of the games great players. Beeston was the first indigenous Australian to captain a national team in any sport and was the captain of Queensland's first State of Origin team.
AIMIA unveils tablet ad guidelines
Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) has released a set of guidelines for tablet advertising as devices including the iPad proliferates. The guidelines were developed in consultation with Google, Ikon Communications, Fairfax Media, Maxus, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Oomph, Snakk Media, Venture One and Telsyte.
