Herald Sun expands to country Victoria
News Limited's the Herald Sun plans to expand distribution of its metropolitan Saturday edition to a broader stretch of regional Victoria. Cities and towns that will benefit from the expansion include Bendigo, Ballarat, Daylesford, Castlemaine and Maldon.
eBay sellers see revenue growth
Two thirds of eBay's biggest sellers are optimistic about 2012 with the top 2000 sellers growing revenue by 45% last year, according to the retailer's Online Business Index (OBI). The report also found sellers are keen to invest more in mobile commerce (72%) but 17% said they don't know how they'll do it while 40% said they lack the necessary knowledge about the platform.
Group buying bosses to speak at summit
The heads of some of Australia's largest group buying brands have been confirmed as speakers at the inaugural Group Buying Summit in Sydney on 7 May. Speakers include Scoopon's Jon Beros, LivingSocial's Colin Fabig, OzSale's Carl Jackson, Spreet's Dean McEvoy, Cudo's Mike Sneesby, Groupon's Tobias Teuber and Telsyte's Sam Yip.
Amnesia shores up technology firepower
Amnesia Razorfish has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Leslie Nassar as technology director. Nassar joins from his own company, TweeVee TV, which developed and moderated ABC's Q&A Twitter interaction. He has previously worked for Telstra, Victoria Police, Cooeey, MIA, Legion Interactive, PreEnroll and VTech.
Socially-conscious consumers look to social media
A Nielsen survey of 28,000 people globally has found 63% of socially-conscious consumers under 40 will consult social media in the purchasing process. The report also found 46% of consumers across 56 countries would be willing to pay more for products from companies that are giving back to society. Asia Pacific had the highest number of socially-conscious consumers, followed by the Middle East and Africa and Latin America.
Cannes Lions reveals four juries
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced the juries of a further four categories which include Creative Effectiveness, Design, Film, and PR Lions. Each of the juries is chaired by a president. The Creative Effectiveness Lions jury will be chaired by Havas & Euro RSCG Worldwide global chief executive officer David Jones, the Design Lions jury will be chaired by Turner Duckworth creative director Bruce Duckworth. The Film Lions jury will be chaired by Olgivy and Mather worldwide creative officer Khai Meng Tham, and the PR Lions jury will be chaired by Weber Shandwick global vice chairperson Gail Heimann.
