As Nine continues its resurgence in the ratings, group sales and marketing director Peter Wiltshire’s task is to help bring revenue back in line with the network’s growing audience share. He and David Gyngell had flagged a target of 35% revenue – Nine is now sitting at around 36%, so the train is definitely on track.
Wiltshire’s baby, the cross-platform sales unit Powered by Nine, is also highly rated in the market and more content focused than Seven’s SMG Red at this stage, so points on that front.
Renowned as a human calculator able to crunch numbers and talk on his feet – definitely a useful skill for a sales guy – he’s the go-to man across the group.
Despite Nine’s ascendancy, however, Wiltshire is not quite as powerful yet as arch rival Kurt Burnette, having lost magazines from his portfolio of assets when Nine Entertainment Co. sold off ACP to Bauer, and – as far as we know – is not yet tipped for a more senior role like his Seven counterpart.
