In a world where content is king, Nine’s director of TV, Michael Healy, who’s appearing on the Power 50 for the first time, is an increasingly powerful and important player to the success of the network.
Healy is in touch with his audiences, innovative and ahead of the curve, and has arguably been a major factor in Nine’s recent resurgence. While it’s still behind rival Seven as the leader, Healy has led major developments regarding content, consumer consumption offerings and advertiser opportunities.
Healy – responsible for all aspects of Nine, Go! and Gem – is credited with the success of reality singing show The Voice. Not only did this bring unprecedented ratings for the network, but a number of integrated multi-platform opportunities for advertisers, and a price tag of $100,000 for a 30-second spot.
Not since Nine’s heyday had it been so coveted. Healy has also overseen the knock-down rebuild of uber-successful show The Block, the revival of Ten’s Big Brother, and its extension into social media with the Jump-in second-screen app.
If Healy can continue to weave his magic, Nine might just become the frontrunner in the market.
