Woolworths, Australia's second biggest advertiser, has put its media buying and planning account out to review.

Four agencies are in the running for the business. Mitchell & Partners holds the Woolworths account, as well as its brands Dan Murphy's, BWS and Dick Smiths, while MEC handles the Big W business. Buying and planning for all five brands will be consolidated with one agency as part of the review.

A spokesperson for Woolworths told AdNews that Mitchells is involved in the review, but declined to name the other three agencies.

The spokesperson said a decision is expected in the next few weeks. Woolworths spent an estimated $166 million on main media advertising in 2010.
