EnergyAustralia has appointed Vizeum as its new media agency, parting ways with incumbent MediaCom, AdNews can reveal.

Vizeum will be responsible for strategic and tactical media planning, media buying, market analysis and performance tracking. It joins iProspect and Cummins&Partners on the company’s roster of agencies.

In the past 12 months, EnergyAustralia spent $15.6 million on media, according to Nielsen figures.

In a statement, Vizeum Melbourne general manager David Campbell says: "We’re thrilled to be partnering with EnergyAustralia to deliver innovative, consumer-centric solutions to drive brand and bottom line growth for their business."

EnergyAustralia’s chief customer officer Kim Clarke says EnergyAustralia revamped in 2015 with a new executive team and business structure.

"We took a fresh look at each and every part of our business and that included testing Australia’s pool of media agencies," she adds.

"The quality of pitches we received was outstanding. It was difficult decision but ultimately Vizeum showed it understood our commitment to putting customers at the heart of everything we do."

In February, EnergyAustralia appointed Cummins&Partners as its lead creative agency following a pitch. The creative business previously sat with Leo Burnett Sydney.

Former Vodafone CMO Kim Clarke joined EnergyAustralia as chief customer officer in July 2015. Following the creative review, Clarke told AdNews the business faces the challenge that the average consumer spends just 11 minutes a year thinking about their energy provider, which is why it was looking to overhaul "every aspect of its business to better serve the customer".

“EnergyAustralia was comprehensively revamped in 2015 with a new executive team, a new business structure and a renewed, sharper focus on the customer," she said at the time. "We took a fresh look at each and every part of our business and that included testing Australia’s pool of creative agencies.”

In June last year EnergyAustralia's campaign, from Leo Burnett, positioned its customer service consultants as the wisest in the industry: wise, vest-wearing owls who will sit on your shoulder and guide you through the process.
