Twitter says advertisers got off to an early start in 2022

Twitter says advertisers started earlier than usual in 2022.

The social media platform expects total revenue in the March quarter to be between $US1.17 billion and $US1.27 billion.

CEO Parag Agrawal spoke to market analysts after releasing annual results showing revenue growing 37% to $US5.08 billion in 2021.

"If we look at the first part of this quarter ... it did feel like advertisers got off to an earlier start than what we've seen in the recent past," he says.

"Whether it's in planning and thinking about where and how they want to show up around product launches and big events happening all around the world, from the Olympics to the Super Bowl to award shows and other things and also in executing on those campaigns early in the quarter."  

Advertising revenue grew 40% in 2021 to $US$4.5 billion, with the US growing 41% and international up 39%. 

In the December quarter, total revenue was $US1.57 billion, up 22%.Total advertising revenue was $US1.41 billion, up 22%.
