Twitter has launched its first subscriber offering, Twitter Blue, in Australia and Canada.
The new model gives subscribers a set of exclusive features and perks for $4.49 a month.
The social media company says the initial features available as part of Twitter Blue were developed based on feedback from Twitter users.
“For those wondering, no, a free Twitter is not going away, and never will,” the company said in a blog update.
“This subscription offering is simply meant to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who want it.”
Features available to subscribers include Bookmark Folders to organise and save content, an option to undo Tweets with a customisable timer of up to 30 seconds, and a Reader Mode which allows users to read long threads more easily.
Subscribers will also be able to customise app icons on their home screen and will have access to exclusive colour themes and a dedicated subscription customer support team.
Twitter says it will update the new model with features based on subscriber feedback over time.
