AdNews brings the stories of those working from home (WFH) in the advertising and media industry during the coronavirus crisis.
Cassie Grentell is brand and promotions director at Star 104.5.
How are you dealing with the silence?
Silence? Where is this silence you speak of? My house is alive with father/son Sock Wrestling Tournaments and attempts to break the record for Continuous Cartwheeling. When there is a hush I do get to enjoy the music variety we play at Star on my smart speaker.
What’s the upside?
For me it’s learning how resilient we are as a society. Personally I have employed a couple of tricks to help me through, including approaching the crisis as an opportunity to create a great story. I want to look back when my kids are grown and wax lyrical about the months we got dressed up to take out the bin or the night we had a disco in the lounge room.
The downside?
I miss my work family, I miss the constant supply of promo chocolate…I even miss putting up marquees in extreme heat (yep, iso has gotten to me!).
How are you using the commuting time saved?
I am one of those super lucky people who has an eight minute commute but even that small amount of saved time has given me the opportunity to reflect how I’m not rushing at the moment. I can’t remember the time I said ‘hurry up’ to my kids and that’s truly a gift of the times.
I am looking forward to being back in the office because …
It will mean I’ve resigned from one of my roles…home schooling teacher!
