AdNews last year launched the WFH Diaries during the depths of the fallout from the pandemic, a way of sharing how people managed their days.
This time, with lockdown running again, we're asking for a run down on how everyone likes to start their day working from home. Some dress to impress, others slip on the t-shirt. And everyone has their own way to carve the day into manageable chunks.
Brook Rutherford, sales director, L&A Social:
Working from home across COVID has been a massive shift to the way I view how I work. I'm a very socially centric person and over the years I needed to have the constant buzz of the office around me.
WFH has forced me out of that mould and initially I was really resistant to it, but 18 months on it's a welcome change. My husband Ruthers has worked harder than I've ever seen him and I feel the same has applied to me. A big shift is just more time to work, rather than rushing around getting to my desk in the morning after packing lunch for the family and delivering two little kids in different directions each day.
A few highlights from this latest lockdown have been better time management around home schooling and also enjoying our new home, our family life and our neighbourhood in a more relaxed way.
I start my day at 4.45am with 30 minutes of meditation, followed by some exercises and reading trade press. I'm a morning person and I adore this time. I'm not sure people like me sending them notes this early but it does hit the inbox first!
One of the other routines I've had during lockdown that has had a big impact on my mental health is that I get dressed up to the nines everyday. I know it sounds lame, but makeup, jewellry, outfit and hair done has added a very strong structure to the early morning and it's just given me confidence throughout the day to be Zoom ready mentally and physically. Most people would disagree with me and love being more relaxed about this, but I just crave the professionalism of work and this really helps. Listening into the 11am NSW Health briefing has been a constant because I'm a news junkie.
