AdNews last year launched the WFH Diaries during the depths of the fallout from the pandemic, a way of sharing how people managed their days.

This time, with lockdown running again, we're asking for a run down on how everyone likes to start their day working from home. Some dress to impress, others slip on the t-shirt. And everyone has their own way to carve the day into manageable chunks.

Adam Fischer, National Sales Director, Val Morgan Digital:

My day usually starts around 5:30am as my kids have an internal body clock that doesn’t let them sleep in... ever! Coffee is always the first order of business, along with making breakfast for both myself and the kids.

Once the workday begins, it’s usually non-stop as the team and I are busier than ever. We are always in collaboration mode even when working from home so the key here is to take little moments whenever I can to either grab a coffee, take the dog (and kids) for a quick walk around the block or help the kids with their online classes and homework. The main benefit I’ve found working from home, is that it has given me the opportunity to immerse myself into a new space to brainstorm and forward think, mainly without too many distractions.

During the week, inspiring and stimulating conversations take priority and I usually have quite a few scheduled with the team whether it be a brainstorm session for an upcoming project, or just sharing awesome ideas. I know the team can agree that my kids love making a celebrity appearance on the odd occasion - usually accompanied by a request to help complete complex LEGO builds. Connecting with the team daily helps me stay energized (and I’m sure they feel the same way!).

As the days just fly by, I always make sure I book in catch ups whether it be a virtual coffee or an end of the day drink with both the team and clients as I think it’s vital to continue socially interacting with one another in lockdown times like this.

Positives aside, it can be hard to switch off at the end of the day without the need to physically leave the office in World Square to get home. And although I ensure I stay connected by having regular virtual catch ups, one of the things I miss most is hanging out face-to-face with the team and clients!
