The most engaged brand video ads on Twitter in Australia in August, 2020:

The month saw a range of new brands enter the top performing video mix, including PlayStation Australia and Optus creating thump-stopping videos that had people talking.

"For brands looking to do the same, I’d recommend keeping your videos short and snappy with one clear story," says Lottie Laws, head of video solutions at Twitter Australia.

"You see this across all the top performing videos, whether it's the three new features highlighted in Playstation’s ad, or what’s on offer in the latest Optus ad. The message is clear and simple. They’re not trying to cram in too many messages.

"Placing a product at the centre of the ad was also a consistent trend. Products act as a hook, and engage a user from the very moment it hits their screen. Samsung does this well with its ads. It’s a great tactic that helps catch people's attention in a matter of seconds and keeps them engaged.

"It’s also worth noting the persistence of branding across all the videos. From the first second the video starts, the brand logo or its iconic colours are present, and it is carried through to the end. Having persistent branding helps drive awareness and overall message recall.”

The top performing brand videos include:
